Greetings in grace Calvary Bible Church family,
In the early part of the sixteenth century, Christianity was reborn out of the dark ages of sacramental mysticism through the vehicle of preaching and the printing press. For the first time, people were able to hear and read the Bible in their native language. All great movements and revivals of history related to the spread and growth of the historic Christian faith have been closely associated with getting God’s Word into the ears, hands, and hearts of God’s people—either by preaching or by reading.
The people of God today face a similar watershed moment related to the reception of God’s Word—preached and read. Like never before have God’s people been able to learn and grow using resources that once were only available to seminary students, pastors, or Bible college professors. As a result of our ever changing and improving technology, Christians now have at their disposal tools the protestant reformers could have never dreamed of. Imagine in the fifteen hundreds the sermons of Luther & Calvin available for anyone in Germany & Switzerland to listen to in their own home and a time that was uniquely convenient. Imagine the classic time-tested Christian works available at the click of a button—works that have passed the discerning scrutiny of God’s key leaders through the centuries.
The church faces many struggles related to purity with the ever increasing influence of technology but there is also a strategic advantage as well. God’s people now have access to Christian truth in their own homes like never before. The hearing and reading of the Word through the new era of the internet is now upon us.
At CBC, we are thankful to God that we can present God’s Word to anyone who desires it—anywhere, anytime through the world wide web. In addition to having all of our Sunday morning messages available using streaming audio, we will have a variety of valuable resource links, including classic sermons, written works, etc… We will also have a Christian blog that will educate, stimulate, and motivate us toward Christ-likeness. And make no mistake that is the goal—Christ-likeness. That we as individual Christians who make up the body of Christ would be conformed to the image of Christ. That happens through the hearing and reading of truth—along with its commensurate application.
The reason and mission statement for our new website is very simple—that God would be exalted and Christians would be conformed to the image of Christ through the preaching and reading of God’s Word. The goal of this website is that we would teach people the meaning of Scripture—for the meaning of Scripture is the Scripture.
Look forward to checking in often and using this site for your own Christian growth individually and as a family.
May God bless and be glorified through this website.
In grace,
Pastor Bob
