Our Merciful High Priest - Part 1 (Hebrews 4:14-16)

Bob SchultzBob Schultz, January 10, 2016
Part of the Book of Hebrews series, preached at a Sunday Morning service

This Sunday we will study Hebrews 4:14-16 as the Bible gives all believers a promise from God related to finding mercy and grace to help us in our time of need. The power of this is overwhelming even as we consider that many of us are right in the middle of our time of need. The writer will begin to teach about Jesus, our great and final High Priest, who can sympathize with our weakness because of the temptation He endured on earth yet without sin. In addition, the pain and suffering He endured on earth. Perhaps like no other verse in Scripture, this message will minister to the suffering Christian and suffering soul like no other. In addition, we will partake of the Lord’s Supper this Sunday.

Hebrews 4:14–16 (Listen)

14 Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
